<br />Proposed 2005 Transit Service Adjustments <br /> <br />Nearly 70 percent of Metro Transit routes and Metropolitan Council regional routes operating on <br />weekdays would be impacted by a proposed 10 percent reduction of regular-route service. Some <br />routes would be eliminated entirely, while others would have specific reductions, such as cutting <br />weekend service or reducing hours of service or the frequency of buses. Reductions were <br />determined based on ridership and comparing operating cost to ridership revenue. <br /> <br />Unless otherwise noted, implementation would take place in September or December <br />2005. <br /> <br />Route Description of chanQes <br /> <br />3 Minneapolis - Como Ave. - Maryland - Rice SI. - SI. Paul <br />Weekday - Service east of Como & Cleveland would be reduced from every 20 minutes <br />to every 30 minutes between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. These trips would be eliminated: the <br />eastbound trips that leave Como & Snelling at 6:10 a.m. and 6:38 a.m.; the eastbound <br />trips that leave 5th St. Garage at 11 :50 p.m. and 12:42 a.m.; and the westbound trip that <br />leaves 5th & Cedar at 11:46 p.m. <br /> <br />Saturday - These trips would be eliminated: the eastbound trip that leaves 5th St. <br />Garage at 11:43 p.m. and the westbound trip that leaves 5th & Cedar at 11:44 p.m. <br />JUNE 2005 Implementation <br /> <br />4 Richfield - Lyndale Ave. - Johnson SI. - New Brighton <br />Weekday - Northbound rush-hour service between 38th & Bryant and Silver Lake Village <br />would be reduced from every 10-12 minutes to every 15 minutes between 4:30 p.m. and <br />5:15 p.m., and after 6:30 p.m. northbound and 8:00 p.m. southbound. Evening service <br />would be reduced from every 15 minutes to every 30 minutes between downtown and <br />50th & Bryant. Route 4F and 4K service would be reduced from every half hour to hourly <br />south of downtown only. <br /> <br />5 Mall of America - Chicago Ave. - DT Mpls. - Fremont/Penn - Brookdale <br />Weekday - Southbound morning and northbound afternoon rush-hour service would be <br />reduced from every 6-9 minutes to every 7-9 minutes on the main portion of the route. <br />Northbound service would be reduced from every 10 minutes to every 15 minutes <br />between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. <br />JUNE 2005 Implementation <br /> <br />6 Southdale - Xerxes Ave. - France Ave. - Hennepin Ave. - Uptown - U of M <br />Weekday - Service on Hennepin Ave. would be reduced from every 4-8 minutes to every <br />6-8 minutes between 7 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. and between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Service on <br />Xerxes, France, south of Southdale and north of downtown would be reduced from every <br />20 minutes to every 30 minutes between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. <br /> <br />Saturday - Hennepin Ave. would be reduced from every 10 minutes to every 15 minutes <br />between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Service on Xerxes, France, south of Southdale and north of <br />downtown would be reduced from every 20 minutes to every 30 minutes between 1 p.m. <br />and 6 p.m. Northbound morning service would start after 5:30 a.m. These trips would be <br />eliminated: Northbound trips that start at 4:23 a.m., 4:53 a.m., 5:13 a.m., 5:18 a.m. and <br />5:53 a.m; and the southbound trip that starts at 5:23 a.m. The northbound trip that leaves <br />Southdale at 5:13 a.m. would start at 36th St. & Hennepin, no longer serving South dale, <br />Xerxes Avenue or Linden Hills. <br /> <br />Page 1 of 17 <br />3/1412005 <br />
