Metropolitan Council - Proposed 2005 Transit Fare and Service Changes

Page 1 of2

!:!:Qposed 2005 Transit Fareand Service Changes

The Metropolitan Council is proposing transit fare and service
changes in order to address a projected shortfall of $60 million
over the next two years. The shortfall is due to rising fuel and
health insurance costs, plus slow revenue growth from vehicle
saies taxes - a major source of transit funding. To address the
funding gap, the Council must reduce costs, improve efficiency
and raise revenue.

Service changes would affect Metro Transit and Metropolitan
Council regional routes, Metro Mobility and community-based dial-
a-ride services.

Fare adjustments would apply to all transit services, including
opt-outs such as Maple Grove Transit, MVTA, Plymouth MetroLink
and SouthWest Metro. It would also apply to Northstar Commuter
Coach Route 888.

Public Hearings

WEST METRO
Tuesday, April 12 - 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Hopkins Center for the Arts
1111 Main St., Hopkins
Served by Routes 12, 612, 614, 664 express

ST.
