Direction of Approach

The regional travel demand forecasting model was used to estimate the future "direction of
approach" of the traffic to the site. Figure 3 shows the overall direction of approach.
Approaches to specific portions of the site were estimated separately to provide a more detailed
breakdown of traffic flow. The traffic forecasts assume that 10 percent of the traffic remains
within the AUAR study area. In addition, the forecast model estimates an additional five percent
of traffic would remain in the Rosedale area. These, plus other minor traffic approaches account
for the difference between the total 100 percent and the percentage distributed to the major
traffic approaches.

Traffic Volumes

Figure 4 shows the existing daily traffic volumes and the forecast year 2020 traffic volumes for
roadway segments in the study area. Forecast volumes on the regional highway system are
affected by the use of the "equilibrium assignment" method of traffic assignments, which adjusts
travel patterns based on available capacity and the availablility of alternate routes.

Twin Lakes AUAR
Traffic, Air and Noise Analysis

-14.

SRF Consulting Group, Inc.
May 3. 2001
