<br />Rules of Decorum for Our Community <br /> <br />Following are some rules of decorum the City of expects of everyone appearing at <br />Council and commission meetings, including elected officials, commission members, city staff, <br />and citizens. It is hoped by following these simple rules, everyone's opinions can be heard and <br />understood in a reasonable manner. <br /> <br />1. All persons who are recognized to speak by the Mayor\Chair should be recognized by <br />the Mayor\Chair to speak; if public from the podium state their name and address <br />before addressing the Council. <br /> <br />2. All remarks will be addressed to the Council\Commission as a whole. <br /> <br />3. Allow others to speak without "talking over" them. Show respect for each other's <br />opmlOns. <br /> <br />4. Actively listen to one another. <br /> <br />5. Keep emotions in check. <br /> <br />6. Use respectful and understandable language. <br /> <br />Open Mike <br /> <br />Open Mike is the portion of the meeting where persons have an opportunity to address the <br />Council\Commission on subjects that are not part of the regular meeting agenda. The public is <br />invited to express any concerns they may have which are relevant to the affairs, policies or <br />practices of the City of . Remarks will be limited to five (5) minutes. <br /> <br />Open Mike is not a time for problem solving or reacting to the comments made, but for hearing <br />the citizen for informational purposes only. Questions from Council\Commission will be for <br />clarification only. A staff report will be prepared for the next regular Council\Commission <br />meeting, with a copy forwarded to the citizen. <br />
