For this study, participation rate is defined as the number of households that had
material out on at least one collection day during the "Before" period, <lnd on at least two collection days
during the "During" period.

Table 6
Set Out & Participation Rates

Single-
Stream

Weekly

Education

Two Bins

Control

Single-
Stream
Contrast
82.3%

Set Out
"Before"
Set Out
"After

69.4%

69.2%

75.3%

90.1%

67.7%

75.0%

84.1 %

57.5%

Percentage
Change

14.7%

(11.7%)

0.3%

7.8%

Participation 81.4%
"Before"
Participation
"Durin"

82.0%

79.5%

78.1%

85.3%

91.0%

86.3%

90.9%

87.3%

94.3%

6,8%

12.8%

2.0%

3.3%

Set Out Rates
. "Before" period. set out rates in the "Before" period were in the Single-Stream Contrast
area at 82% and the area at 75%. The other areas ranged from about 63% to 69%.
. "During" period. The set out rates in the "During" period were again in the Single-Stream
Contrast area at 90% followed by Single-Stream at 84%, with the others ranging from about 72% to
78%.
. Change. The largest changes in set out rates were in the Single-Stream and Two Bin areas, where the
set out rates each increased by about 15%.
