Chair Wilke said that he's sure they all sympathize with the Hughes but
the matter was never officially brought before the Commission and since
there was a legal claim filed, he didn't want to say anything that would
jeopardize either the Hughes' claim or the City's position.

Councilmember Tom Kough spoke on the Hughes' situation and that he is
hoping to come to some resolution. Chair Wilke said it would have been
helpful to have a directive by the City Council if they wanted the
Commission to look into this matter. Now the
plan is to use a valving system, which would save much money.
However, the governor has not included this in the next budget.

Member Shiely suggested that since the new pipeline would run down
Roselawn, and Roselawn is being reconstructed this year, residents should
vote on whether the reconstruction should wait until the pipeline
construction so they wouldn't have to pay for the reconstruction. Chair
Wilke said Roselawn residents have been waiting for years for this
reconstruction and that the pipeline is not a sure thing yet so it probably
isn't a good idea.
