<br />RI~ <br /> <br /> <br />Erosion Control Permit <br />Information Handout <br /> <br />Purpose: In order to ensure that contractors are meeting the City's Erosion Control Ordinance, it is <br />necessary for Public Works Staff to inspect construction sites after a rain event or at least once a week. <br />The staff time spent on the inspection will vary depending on the size of the construction site. SWPPP must be provided as a part of the pemlit application. This erosion control plan must be <br />approved prior to permit issuance. <br />. Sites over I acre must provide the City with a copy of their MPCA NPDES permit. For more <br />information go to http://www.pca.state.nm.us/water/stonnwater/index.html <br />. Prior to site grading, and before any constmction starts, the erosion control plan shall be <br />implemented, inspected and approved by the CITY. No constmction activity will be allowed and <br />no building permits will be issued unless the site is in full compliance with SWPPP. <br />. All areas disturbed by the excavation and backfilling operations shall be reseeded within 72 hours <br />after the completion of the work in that area. <br />. All basement and/or foundation excavation spoil piles shall be kept completely off city right-of-way <br />and shall be completely surrounded with an approved erosion control silt fence. <br />. Except as otherwise provided in the erosion control plan, seed shall be rye grass or other fast- <br />growing seed suitable to the existing soil to provide a temporary ground cover as rapidly as <br />possible. <br />. Sod is required on all slopes greater than ten percent (10%) gradients or as directed by the City <br />Engineer. <br />. All seeded areas shall be mulched and disc anchored as necessary for seed retention. <br />. Street sweeping shall be performed daily to prevent tracking onto the City streets. <br />. If the plat development does not comply with the erosion control plan and schedule or <br />supplementary instructions received from the City, the City may take such action as it deems <br />appropriate to control erosion.
