City Housekeeping Methods

The City is involved in many programs that benefit the environment.

1. Annual street sweeping program. This consists of early spring sweeping
of the streets to remove the winter sand and salt. This removes the sand
that has built up over the winter from the streets prior to the sand and salt
entering the storm sewer system and going into our lakes and ponds.

2. Leaf Pickup Program. This program takes place in the late Fall. The City
street crews go around the City picking up leaves from individual
properties that rake them to the boulevard. The leaves are then brought
to the City compost site located on Dale Street.

3. Compost Site. Materials brought to the City's compost site are then
periodically aerated to speed the composting process at which time
compost is available for the residents to pick up free of charge for use in
gardens and for other landscaping activities.

4. Tree Trimming. Each winter City street crews perform an extensive tree
trimming program to maintain boulevard trees throughout the City. This
work is completed through a cooperative effort between the maintenance
crews and the City Forester.

\ Comprehensive Plan \ DB_Environmental Protection \20D3_updates\Environmental Protection. doc

Roseville Comprehensive Plan-2003 Update

Environmental Protection - Page 7 of 7
