<br />Duane Schwartz pointed out that the City Council had passed a resolution <br />recognizing this as Public Works Week in the City of Roseville. Member <br />Willenbring read the proclamation. Chair Wilke said it takes a good <br />leader to keep things going and that the City was blessed to have Duane as <br />their leader. <br /> <br />6. Twin Lakes Infrastructure Update <br /> <br />Deb Bloom updated the Commission on this project. <br /> <br />Member Willenbring said there was talk at one time to reroute the sewer <br />that goes through the north end of Langton Lake. Bloom said nothing ever <br />came of that. <br /> <br />Chair Wilke said the Twin Lakes project was very interesting, and it was <br />neat to see it finally happening. <br /> <br />Member Willenbring asked who was doing the inspections and testing on <br />the project. Bloom said the City requires the developer to hire a <br />competent engineer to work on the project. <br /> <br />7. 2007 Public Works Budget Discussion <br /> <br />Duane Schwartz talked briefly about the special challenges coming from <br />submitting the 2007 budget. One of the challenges is the cost of energy <br />and materials, for example asphalt, which is made of oil, has increased in <br />price about 20%. <br /> <br />Schwartz said the City Council has indicated they want no more than a 3 <br />Yz % increase. Member Willenbring wondered how that would be possible <br />since costs are increasing l5%-20%--there would have to be major <br />cutbacks in maintenance. <br /> <br />Schwartz highlighted some of the major budget points. <br /> <br />Member Willenbring asked how much clay tile was left in the sewer <br />system of the city. Schwartz said about 80% was still clay. <br /> <br />Schwartz asked if there were any areas the Commission wanted to focus <br />on for the next budget. Chair Wilke said that maybe one cost saver would <br />be checking the service rate of snow plowing and grass mowing. <br /> <br />8. Pedestrian Safety Improvements <br /> <br />Duane Schwartz presented information on this topic and recapped past <br />discussions.
