Business <br /> <br />A. Zielske indicated the COillmission had discussed three good topics in <br />the last month, including police sensitivity to Human Rights, the <br />state Department of Euman Rights and mall security. Wachter <br />indicated he has contacted the managers of Har l-lar and Rosedale. <br />They can both attend the February meeting. He indicated the shopping <br />centers are responsible for the security of comn~n areas, but the <br />large tenants are responsible for their OM1 security. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Henry suggested that if the Commission is finding that l:Bny are <br />unaware of the Human Rights COrirrnission, it should begin an education <br />program in a local publication, such as the City Newsletter. Zalk <br />suggested asking Rosedale and Har l-lar ilall to allow us to place a <br />HunBn Rights display in their commcn areas. Zielske suggested the <br />Commissioners should be thinking of good places for Human Rights <br />displays and good ways to get the message out. One suggestion would <br />be to send out the HunBn Rights brochure with utility bills. Thomas <br />indicated she will ask Har t.!ar about an exhibit and other types of <br />Human Rights publicity. It was suggesteCi that a sample no-fault <br />grievance be prepared for distribution. It was also suggested that <br />the Commission request that a computer store loan a computer with a <br />question/answer format program for use as a Human Rights exhibit. <br /> <br />r <br />"'- <br /> <br />C. It was suggested that as a fOllow-up to the presentation made by the <br />Deputy Police Chief to the Commission, a copy of the minutes of the <br />meeting and a letter expressing the Conmission's gratitude for the <br />presentation, and possibly the Commission's concerns regarding <br />HunBn Rights training for police, be sent to the Police Chief. The <br />Commission discussed questions regarding police Human Rights training <br />availability and requirements. The Corrrrnission directed l\oorse to <br />determine what types of Hurr.an Rights related training is available <br />for police and whether Hunlan Rights training is required for police. <br /> <br />D. Zielske suggested the Commissioners should be thinking about a Vice- <br />Chair to replace Hays when her term expires at the end of !larch. <br /> <br />( <br />
