<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 1991 <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman King at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call <br />Members present: King, Borden, Deutsch, Jenney, Bancroft, <br />and Lindberg. <br /> <br />Excused Absence: Litsheim, Bondy, and Wright. <br /> <br />Others present: Brenda Thomas, Council Liaison and Ron <br />Moorse, staff. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Minutes <br />King moved, Jenney seconded, that the minutes of the <br />January 8, 1991 meeting be approved. Roll Call, Ayes: <br />King, Borden, Deutsch, Jenney, Bancroft, and Lindberg. <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />IV. Business <br />A. Grievances <br />King indicated there are no grievances in process at <br />this time. <br /> <br />King also indicated he had contacted the state Human <br />Rights Department regarding mediation training. There <br />are no training sessions planned at this time. <br /> <br />B. Committee Updates <br />1. Martin Luther King Jr. Tribute <br />King indicated that the construction at Rosedale <br />will probably continue into 1992, making that <br />location unworkable for the '92 Martin Luther King <br />Jr. Tribute. The Commission directed Ron Moorse to <br />determine who to contact at the Crossroads Center <br />regarding holding the Martin Luther King Jr. <br />Tribute at that Center in 1992. <br /> <br />2. Human Rights Excellence Award <br />The Commission has received one nomination for the <br />award at this time. <br /> <br />Jenney suggested that there.are firms involved in <br />developing innovative products to enable handi- <br />capped people to use the products, such as computers. <br />He suggested the Commission may want to find out <br />whether there are firms doing this in Roseville. <br /> <br />Brenda Thomas indicated she has noticed that <br />Byerly's employs numerous persons of various <br />races and ages. She also suggested that the <br />Commission itself could make nominations of <br />organizations they feel are worthy. <br />
