<br />HUMAN COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, JANUARY 14, 1992 <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />!:;all to Order <br />The meeting was called to <br />at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />commission <br /> <br />Deutsch <br /> <br /> <br />II. <br /> <br />: <br /> <br />Jean <br />McKenzie, stan Borden and <br />Deutsch. <br />Bob <br />Norrgard <br />Karen , vickie <br />Lindberg <br /> <br />, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />unexcused Absences: <br /> <br /> <br />, Jackie <br /> <br />III. Approval of Minutes <br />Anderson moved, Deutsch seconded that the minutes of the <br />December 9, 1991 meeting be approved. Roll Call: All <br />ayes. <br /> <br />IV. Business <br /> <br />A. Human Rights Excellence Award <br /> <br />Borden reported that there were no nominations received <br />as of yet for the Award. The deadline is January 31, <br />1992. Kushner will send the press release to the papers <br />again to see if they will publish one more time before <br />.January 31st. other Commission members will make <br />appropriate contacts to generate more nominations. <br /> <br />B. Committee Reports <br /> <br />1. Multicultur~l Events and Communications. <br />a) spring Cultural Event. It was decided that the <br />Event would be changed to a Fall Cultural Event <br />to be held on september 26 at Rosedale Shopping <br />Mall, early afternoon. Instead of focusing on <br />one culture, the event will be multi-cultural <br />with different groups represented. Kushner <br />will check to see if the City of Roseville <br />maintains demographic information on Roseville <br />citizens to see which cultures are represented <br />in the city. Thelma McKenzie was added to the <br />Mul ticul tural Event Subcommittee, and it was <br />decided that assignment of duties and chairing <br />of the subcommittee will be discussed at the <br />next meeting. Anderson will look for Asian <br />Pacific Islander participants and McKenzie will <br />begin looking for other resources. McKenzie <br />proposed that the winning school essays should <br />be displayed and Human Rights Committee <br />brochures made available at the event. <br />
