HUMAN COMMISSION MINUTES TUESDAY, JANUARY 14, 1992 1. !:;all to Order The meeting was called to at 7:30 p.m. commission Deutsch II. : Jean McKenzie, stan Borden and Deutsch. Bob Norrgard Karen , vickie Lindberg , unexcused Absences: , Jackie III. Approval of Minutes Anderson moved, Deutsch seconded that the minutes of the December 9, 1991 meeting be approved. Roll Call: All ayes. IV. Business A. Human Rights Excellence Award Borden reported that there were no nominations received as of yet for the Award. The deadline is January 31, 1992. Kushner will send the press release to the papers again to see if they will publish one more time before .January 31st. other Commission members will make appropriate contacts to generate more nominations. B. Committee Reports 1. Multicultur~l Events and Communications. a) spring Cultural Event. It was decided that the Event would be changed to a Fall Cultural Event to be held on september 26 at Rosedale Shopping Mall, early afternoon. Instead of focusing on one culture, the event will be multi-cultural with different groups represented. Kushner will check to see if the City of Roseville maintains demographic information on Roseville citizens to see which cultures are represented in the city. Thelma McKenzie was added to the Mul ticul tural Event Subcommittee, and it was decided that assignment of duties and chairing of the subcommittee will be discussed at the next meeting. Anderson will look for Asian Pacific Islander participants and McKenzie will begin looking for other resources. McKenzie proposed that the winning school essays should be displayed and Human Rights Committee brochures made available at the event.
