<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, MAY 10, 1994 <br /> <br />I. <br /> <br />Call to Order <br />The meeting was <br />at 7:10 p.m. <br /> <br />called to order by commission Chair Trainor <br /> <br />II . <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Michael Trainor, Stan Borden, Bob <br />Bancroft, Jill Bergquist, Mary Jean <br />Turinia Anderson, Susan Forsyth, <br />Larissa Rippley, Beatriz Menanteau, <br />Mike Hermes <br />Laura Kushner, Staff Liaison <br />Thelma McKenzie, Maria Reed <br /> <br />Others Present: <br />Absences: <br /> <br />III. Approval of Minutes. A motion for approval of the April 9, <br />1994 Minutes was made by Stan Borden and seconded by Bob <br />Bancroft. All ayes. <br /> <br />IV. Rosefest Parade. Staff Liaison will contact the Essay <br />Contest winners by telephone this month to make sure that <br />they are planning to attend the Rosefest Parade. Bob <br />Bancroft volunteered to drive the convertible and Stan <br />Borden will be willing to ride in it also. If available and <br />if needed, Beatriz offered to ride along as well. <br /> <br />Signs need to be constructed for the convertible as follows: <br />Names of Essay Contest Winners <br />-- Roseville Human Rights Commission <br /> <br />Staff Liaison will purchase white poster board and 2" or 3" <br />hardware store letters. <br /> <br />IF AVAILABLE, PLEASE COME TO THE JUNE MEETING AT 6:30 TO <br />CONSTRUCT THE SIGNS. <br /> <br />V. Bias/Hate Crime Report. Mike Trainor presented the final <br />Bias Hate Crime Response plan to the Council and received <br />Council approval. He also received approval to send the <br />Letter to the Editor. Staff Liaison will make sure the <br />Letter is sent as a press release to all newspapers. Staff <br />Liaison will send a letter to Gary Wink at the Chamber to <br />let them know the Bias Hate Crime Response Plan was approved <br />and that Mike Trainor will be contacting them. <br /> <br />VI. Grievance Update. No grievances reported. Mary Jean <br />Turinia Anderson reported that the Department of Human <br />Rights will not be conducting grievance training nor will <br />they certify Commissioners any longer. The LMHRC is <br />planning to have training and have developed a Manual. She <br />will contact Thelma McKenzie to find out when the training <br />is being offered. <br />
