<br />I. <br /> <br />II . <br /> <br />III. <br /> <br />IV. <br /> <br />V. <br /> <br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, JULY 12, 1994 <br /> <br />Call to Order <br />The meeting was <br />at 7:05 p.m. <br /> <br />called to order by Commission Chair Trainor <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Michael Trainor, Larissa Rippley, <br />Thelma McKenzie, Stan Borden, Susan <br />Forsyth, Mike Hermes, Jill <br />Bergquist, Bob Bancroft <br />Laura Kushner, Staff Liaison <br />Mary Jean Turinia Anderson, Maria <br />Reed, Beatriz Menanteau <br /> <br />Others Present: <br />Absences: <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes. A motion for approval of the June 14, <br />1994 Minutes was made by Mike Trainor and seconded by Bob <br />Bancroft. All ayes. <br /> <br />Rosefest Parade. The parade was generally very successful. <br />The essay contest winners appeared to enjoy the event. Next <br />year, we should establish a meeting place and time for the <br />essay contest winners and the commissioner to avoid any <br />confusion. <br /> <br />Bias/Hate Crime Report. Staff liaison will send a completed <br />copy of the Bias/Hate Response Plan (and a copy of the <br />letter to the editor and an updated roster) to Mort Ryweck <br />and to the people listed in the network contacts. Mike <br />Trainor will be on a panel to discuss Roseville's plan at <br />the LMHRC conference. <br /> <br />VI. Grievance Update. No grievances reported. <br /> <br />VII. <br /> <br />Human Riqhts Excellence Award. Larissa Rippley redesigned <br />the nomination form in a "coupon-type" format for the City <br />newsletter. Staff liaison will work with City staff to run <br />it in the October newsletter and send to the local papers as <br />a press release. The deadline for nominations could be in <br />November or December and the announcement of the winner made <br />on Martin Luther King Day in January. Stan Borden <br />volunteered to talk to potential nominators and his phone <br />number will appear in the ad. The city's fax number will <br />also appear. The cable committee will work on a cable spot <br />for publicity. <br /> <br />Staff liaison will send an "FYI" copy to the Pat Johnson, <br />Council Liaison. <br /> <br />VIII. Cable Update. The cable committee will be getting together <br />in the next several weeks to start working on the poster <br />shots. <br />
