<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, MAY 9, 1995 <br /> <br />I. CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order by Vice Chair Mike Hermes at <br />7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />II. ROLL CALL <br />Members present: Mike Hermes, Thelma McKenzie, Alex SChlief, <br />Mary Jean Anderson, Susan Forsythe, Bob <br />Bancroft. <br /> <br />Members absent: Mike Trainor, Jill Bergquist, Larissa <br />Ripley. <br /> <br />Others present: Sally Chial, Staff Liaison. <br /> <br />III. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Mary Jean Anderson moved, motion seconded, that <br />of April 11, 1995, be approved. Roll Call, <br />present. Nays: None. <br /> <br />the minutes <br />Ayes: All <br /> <br />IV. BIAS/HATE CR1MES <br />A. No report. <br /> <br />V. CABLE <br />Mike Hermes discussed plans to put a 30 minute monthly <br />program together with Human Rights related issues and <br />events. The program would run eight or nine times a month. <br />No date has been set to begin. <br /> <br />VI. GRIEVANCE UPDATE <br />No report. <br /> <br />VII. COMMISSION BROCHURE <br />Mary Jean Anderson moved, Bob Bancroft seconded, that the <br />Commission Brochure be accepted and printed. Roll Call, <br />Ayes: All present. Nays: None. <br /> <br />VIII. ELECTION <br />There were not enough members present to hold elections. <br /> <br />IX. OTHER BUSINESS <br />A. The Glass Ceiling Report was received. Mary Jean <br />Anderson will supply extra copies for distribution. <br /> <br />B. Thelma McKenzie brought up discussion of the annual <br />Human Rights Conference. She was inquiring if the <br />city's commission is interested in hosting the <br />Conference in Roseville on September 16. Thelma will <br />call Country Inn Suites, and discuss progress and the <br />possibility of forming a committee at the next meeting. <br /> <br />C. Human Rights Essay Contest winners will be involved in <br />the Torch Run at the Star of the North Games. <br />
