<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, AUGUST 8,1995 <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Chair Mike Trainor at 7:10 p.m. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call <br />Members present: Jill Bergquist, Susan Forsyth, Mike Hermes, Thelma <br />McKenzie, Margaret Murphy Maertz, and Mike Trainor. <br /> <br />Members absent: Mary Jean Turinia Anderson, Janet Henquinet. <br /> <br />Others present: Russell, visitor, and Steve North, Staff Liaison. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Minutes <br />Jill Bergquist moved, Mike Hermes seconded, that the minutes of the July 11, 1995, <br />meeting be approved. Roll Call, Ayes: All present. Nays: None. <br /> <br />IV. Bias/Hate Crimes <br />Mike Trainor reported that the Police Chief had provided a memo regarding two <br />Roseville juveniles who admitted committing racist type vandalism in the City. The <br />Juvenile Officer is handling the case. <br /> <br />V. Cable TV <br />Mike Hermes indicated he has contacted several Human Rights Commissions in the <br />northeast metro area regarding participating on his Cable TV show to discuss their <br />activities. He is planning the show for later in the Fall. <br /> <br />VI. Grievance Update <br />No report. <br /> <br />VII. 1996 Goal Settinq Session <br />Mike Trainor indicated that Sally Chial is on Medical Leave and that the <br />Commission's goal setting session will therefore be held during the regular meeting <br />of October 10, 1995. <br /> <br />VIII. Other Business <br />A. Mike Trainor will contact Barb Mastel, President of the Gavel Club, regarding <br />preparing a list of individuals from various organizations who could work with <br />the Commission on Bias/Hate Crime responses. <br />
