<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12,1995 <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Chair Mike Trainor at 8:05 p.m. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call <br />Members present: Mike Trainor, Thelma McKenzie, Mike Hermes, Sue Forsyth, <br />Mary Jean Turinia Anderson, Jill Bergquist, and Margaret <br />Murphy Maertz. <br /> <br />Members absent: Janet Henquinet. <br /> <br />Others present: Sally Chial, Staff Liaison. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Minutes <br />Mike Hermes moved, Jill Bergquist seconded, that the minutes of the August 8, <br />1995 meeting be approved. Roll Call Ayes: All present. Nays: None. <br /> <br />IV. Bias Hate Crimes <br />Mike Trainor distributed an article from the St. Paul Pioneer Press regarding the <br />incident with two Roseville juveniles who allegedly committed a racist type <br />vandalism in the City. It was his understanding that this would not be tried as a bias <br />hate crime because it is difficult to prove the intent. <br /> <br />V. Cable TV <br />Mike Hermes indicated progress has been made on the monthly half-hour cable <br />program. There are cooperative efforts being made with other cities to participate. <br /> <br />VI. Grievance Update <br />No report. <br /> <br />VII. 1996 Goal Settinq Session <br />October 10, 1995 has been set for the 1996 goal setting session. Members agreed <br />to meet at 6:30 p.m. to allow additional time for the goal setting session. <br /> <br />VIII. Other Business <br />A. The September 23 Human Rights Conference was discussed in length. <br />Discussions included setting up an exhibit, a press release, evaluation form, <br />and confirmation with presenters. <br />
