<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, JANUARY 10, 1995 <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Commission Chair Trainor <br />at 7:05 p.m. <br /> <br />II. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mike Trainor, Thelma <br />Borden, Bob Bancroft, <br />and Alex Schlief. <br /> <br />McKenzie, stan <br />Jill Bergquist, <br /> <br />Excused Absences: Susan Forsyth and Larissa Rippley. <br /> <br />Unexcused Absences: Mary Jean Turinia Anderson and Michael <br />Hermes. <br /> <br />Others present: Sally Chial, Staff Liaison. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Minutes <br />Stan Borden moved, and it was seconded, that the minutes of <br />the December 13, 1994 meeting be approved. Roll Call, Ayes: <br />All present. Nays: None. <br /> <br />IV. Human Riqhts Excellence Award <br />A nomination from Advance Circuits was considered from the <br />previous meeting. Stan presented statistics from the company <br />regarding equal employment opportunities and affirmative <br />action. Discussion followed on the nomination. It was agreed <br />that Bob and Stan would contact the company and visit with <br />company representatives, and report back to the group next <br />month. <br /> <br />V. Bias/Hate Crimes <br />Mike Trainor indicated there was no report at this time. <br /> <br />VI. <br /> <br />Cable <br />Mike Hermes was not present. <br />time. <br /> <br />There was no report at this <br /> <br />VII. Essav Competition <br />Jill Bergquist reported there was no additional news since <br />the last meeting when the winners of the Essay Contest were <br />established. However, on January 23, awards will be given <br />to the winners at the City Council meeting. Jill will <br />introduce the winners to the Council. She will contact the <br />winners in advance to see if they would be willing to read <br />their essays at the Council meeting. <br /> <br />A reception will follow after the awards presentation. <br /> <br />VIII. Grievance Update <br />There was no new information to report. <br />
