<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, APRIL 9,1996 <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Chair Mike Trainor at 7:05 p.m. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call <br />Members present: Isaac Afwerke, Mary Jean Turinia Anderson, Jill Bergquist, <br />Susan Forsyth, Mike Hermes, Christine Malark, Margaret <br />Murphy Maertz, Thelma McKenzie, Mike Trainor. <br /> <br />Members absent: Janet Henquinet <br /> <br />Others present: Marcy Cordes, Commission Liaison <br /> <br />III. Approval of Minutes <br />Bergquist moved, Maertz seconded, that the minutes of the February 13, 1996 <br />meeting be approved. <br /> <br />Roll Call, Ayes: All Present. <br /> <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />IV. Bias/Hate Crimes <br />No report. Mike Trainor planning to have a brief meeting with Tom Alleva, and <br />expressed an interest in having a Commission member at the next police open <br />house. <br /> <br />V. Cable TV <br />Mike Hermes reported that he is scheduled to meet with Sue Gertz, Gordy <br />Heinecker, and Mort Rywick regarding possible ideas for the cable program. <br />Rywick is interested in putting together something that could be broadcast <br />statewide on Channel 6. <br /> <br />Mary Jean Anderson reported that the Shoreview and Maplewood Commissions <br />were also interested in cable TV participation. Anderson also reported that the <br />D.H.R. is interested in getting more involved with the local commissions, and <br />that David Beaulieu has expressed an interest in doing an interview for the cable <br />program. Mary Jean and Mike Hermes will coordinate an appropriate time for <br />Beaulieu to tape an interview. <br /> <br />There was also discussion about doing some cable programming that would <br />reflect upcoming Native American and Asian Islander months. <br /> <br />VI. Grievance Update <br />No report. <br />
