<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, JANUARY 9,1996 <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Chair Mike Trainor at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />II. <br /> <br />RollCall <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Isaac Afwerke, Jill Bergquist, Mike Hermes, Margaret <br />Murphy Maertz, Thelma McKenzie, Mike Trainor, and Mary <br />Jean Turinia Anderson. <br />Janet Henquinet, Susan Forsyth, Christine Malark <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Others Present: <br /> <br />Marcy Cordes, Administrative Intern, lee Bauer, Roseville <br />Area School District No. 623. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Minutes <br />Mike Trainor moved, Jill Bergquist seconded, that the minutes of the December <br />12, 1995 meeting be approved. <br /> <br />Roll Call, Ayes: All present. Nays: None. <br /> <br />IV. Bias/Hate Crimes <br />No Report <br /> <br />V. Grievance Uodate <br />No Report. <br /> <br />VI. Essay Contest <br />Jill Bergquist and Janet Henquinet reviewed the approximately 200 essays <br />submitted, selecting approximately 20 for further consideration. The <br />Commission members reviewed and graded the top essays. The ratings were <br />based on how thoughtful and responsive the essays were. <br /> <br />Mike Trainor moved, Margaret Murphy Maertz, that the essay contest winners <br />are: <br /> <br />First: <br />Second: <br />Third: <br /> <br />Nathan Abuan <br />Chris Brustuen <br />Meghan Erickson <br /> <br />St. Odilia's School <br />St. Odilia's School <br />Roseville Area Middle School <br /> <br />Honorable Mentions: <br /> <br />Ann Mcloon <br />Danielle Doyle <br /> <br />Roseville Area Middle School <br />St. Odilia's School <br />
