<br />Memo <br /> <br />To: Human Rights Commissioners <br /> <br />From: Debbie Zamow <br /> <br />Re: December 10, 1996 Meeting Summary <br /> <br />Date: December 20, 1996 <br /> <br />The Tuesday, December 10,1996 meeting of Roseville's Human Rights Commission <br />was not held because a quorum was not present. The following members attended: <br />Isaac Afwerke, Jil.1 Bergquist, Chris Malark, and Mike Trainor. <br /> <br />Commission members discussed the following: <br /> <br />I. Bias/Hate Crimes <br />One hate mail complaint had been received through the Roseville Police <br />Department. Mike Trainor and Jill Bergquist will send a letter to the claimant <br />offering the Commission's support. The purpose of the Commission in these <br />types of incidents was explained as support for victims and voluntary mediation, <br />if appropriate. <br /> <br />II. Cable TVNideo <br />The members inquired as to the status of the airing of the League Annual <br />Meeting. No airing date has been determined. <br /> <br />III. Grievance Update <br />No report. . <br /> <br />IV. Human Richt Essav Contest <br />The 1996 Human Rights Essays were judged by the attending Commission <br />members and they agreed on the following: <br /> <br />1 st Place John Huss St. Rose of Lima <br />2nd Place Katie Zerwas Parkview <br />3rd Place Dan Ridge St. Rose of Lima <br />Honorable Mention Bonnie Goranowski St. Rose of Lima <br />Amanda Hutchings St. Rose of Lima <br />Lars Nelson St. Rose of Lima <br />Jen Rookstool St. Rose of Lima <br /> <br />The winning students and teachers will be notified by mail and asked to attend <br />the Febrl,lary 10 City Council meeting to be recognized. <br /> <br />V. Human Richts Excellence Award <br />No nominations have been received. Jill Bergquist will draft a notice to be <br />published in local newspapers. <br />
