<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, APRIL 8, 1997 <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Mike Trainor at 7:05 p.m. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call <br />Members present: Issac Afwerke, Jill Bergquist, Brenda Boily-Salmanpour, <br />Janet Gordon, Michael Jordan, Mike Trainor. <br /> <br />Members absent: Susan Forsyth, Janet Henquinet, Mike Hermes, Thelma <br />McKenzie. <br /> <br />Others present: Debbie Zamow, Staff Liaison <br /> <br />III. Introduction of New Members <br />New Commissioners Brenda Boily-Salmanpour, Janet Gordon, and Michael <br />Jordan were welcomed to the Commission. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes <br />Jill Bergquist moved, Issac Afwerke seconded, that the minutes of the February <br />11, 1997 meeting be approved. Roll Call, Ayes: All Present Nays: None <br /> <br />V. Committee Reports <br />A. Bias/Hate Crimes <br />No new reports received. <br /> <br />B. Cable TVNideo <br />No report. <br /> <br />C. Human Riqhts Excellence Award <br />No response. <br /> <br />VI. Grievance Update <br />None received. <br /> <br />Delores Fridge, Acting Commissioner of the MN Department of Human Rights, <br />responded to the Commission's request for an update on charges filed by or <br />against Roseville residents. Ms. Fridge's letter noted a change in policy that the <br />state Commission is no longer referring grievance cases to the local level. <br />Because of this change, it was agreed that a copy should be forwarded to the <br />League of Human Rights Commissions. <br />
