<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, OCTOBER 14,1997 <br /> <br />1. Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Jill Bergquist at 7:10p.m. <br /> <br />2. Roll Call <br />Members present: Issac Afwerke, Jill Bergquist, Brenda Boily-Salmanpour, <br />Janet Gordon, Janet Henquinet, Michael Jordan, Thelma <br />McKenzie. <br /> <br />Members absent: Susan Forsyth, Mike Hermes, Mike Trainor. <br /> <br />Others present: Debbie Zamow, Staff Liaison <br /> <br />3. Approval of Minutes <br />Brenda Boily-Salmanpour moved, Janet Gordon seconded, that the minutes of <br />the September 9, 1997 meeting be approved. <br /> <br />Roll Call, Ayes: All Present <br /> <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />4. Committee Reports <br />A. Bias/Hate Crimes - No report. <br /> <br />B. Cable TVNideo - A current schedule of cable TV production classes are <br />listed in the Roseville Review. <br /> <br />C. Human Riqhts Excellence Award - Thelma McKenzie motioned, Janet <br />Gordon seconded that letters be sent to the Roseville Rotary Club in order <br />to encourage participation in the awards program. <br />Roll Call, Ayes: All Present Nays: None <br /> <br />5. Grievance Update - No report. <br /> <br />6. 1997 Human RiQhts Essav Contest <br />The question for the 1997 Essay Contest was determined. The question is to be <br />mailed to the participating schools on October 24 and the essays are due on <br />November 21. Janet Henquinet motioned, Janet Gordon seconded that the <br />contest be run as proposed. <br />Roll Call, Ayes: All Present Nays; None <br />
