<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, APRIL 14, 1998 <br /> <br />1) Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Jill Bergquist at 7:10pm. <br /> <br />2) Roll Call <br /> <br />Members present: Issac Afwerke, Jill Bergquist, Brenda Boily-Salmanpour, <br />Eric Egli, and Janet Henquinet. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Jan Gordon, Mike Hermes, Michael Jordan, Thelma <br />McKenzie and Mike Trainor. <br /> <br />Others Present: Debbie Zamow, Staff Liaison <br /> <br />3) Introduction of New Member <br /> <br />Eric Egli was introduced as a new Human Rights Commission member. He is <br />serving an unexpired term that will run from April 1, 1998 through March 31, <br />1999. <br /> <br />4) Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Janet Henquinet moved to approve the minutes from the March meeting. <br />Issac Afwerke seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />5) Committee Reports <br /> <br />A. Bias/Hate Crimes - No Report <br /> <br />B. Cable TVNideo - No Report. See Agenda Item #5. <br /> <br />C. Human Rights Excellence Award - No nominations to date. Letters are to <br />be sent to Chamber of Commerce and local business groups. <br /> <br />6) Cable Program - Human Rights Excellence Award <br />Mike Hermes contacted the last winner of the Excellence Award. Advance <br />Circuits has a photo montage that could be incorporated into the proposed <br />promotional video. Mike Hermes had agreed to make further contacts with <br />the company about other methods of promoting the award. <br /> <br />Janet Henquinet has a list of ideas that the Commission developed regarding <br />the promotional video. It was mentioned that the Maplewood Human Rights <br />Commission had also developed a video and they would be contacted. <br />
