<br />Memo <br /> <br />To: Human Rights Commissioners <br /> <br />From: Debbie Zamow <br /> <br />Re: April 13, 1999 Meeting Summary <br /> <br />Date: May 5,1999 <br /> <br />The Tuesday, April 13, 1999 meeting of the Roseville Human Rights Commission was not held <br />because a quorum was not present. The following members attended: Jill Bergquist, Brenda <br />Boily-Salmanpour, Susan Oliphant, Eric Egli and youth representative, Marcella Houser. <br /> <br />Commission members discussed the following: <br /> <br />1. Bias Complaint <br />As of the meeting date, the complainant has not returned the intake form. <br /> <br />2. Human Rights Essay Contest <br />The 1999 Essay Contest question was agreed upon as follows: <br /> <br />Consider an event currently in the local, state, national or international news in <br />which human rights are being violated. How does this make you feel? In what <br />ways, should society respond? <br /> <br />This question is scheduled to be approved by the League of MN Human Rights Commissions <br />at their May 25 meeting. The schools will receive packets in late May in order to include the <br />question in their fall cnrriculum. The Statewide Essay Contest winner is scheduled to be <br />announced on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, 2000. <br /> <br />3. Cable Program/Promotion <br />Filming of the cable program is to begin April 28. <br /> <br />4. Police Pursuit Policy <br />It was decided that the Commission has limited influence in this area and the topic will be <br />taken off the agenda. <br /> <br />5. Other Business <br />Roseville Area High School will be holding a Diversity Day on May 10. All Commissioners <br />are invited to attend. Highlights include a fashion show and "Taste ofRAHS" food booths. <br />The day is sponsored by Ethnic Alliance. <br /> <br />Minutes from the March 9 meeting will be voted on during the next meeting scheduled for <br />Tuesday, May 11, at 7:00 p.m. <br />
