<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 9,1999 <br /> <br />1) Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Jill Bergquist at 7:00pm. <br /> <br />2) Roll Call <br />Members present: Issac Afwerke, Jill Bergquist, Brenda Boily-Salmanpour, Jan <br />Gordon, Mike Hermes, Susan Oliphant and Mary Vidas. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Eric Egli and Thelma McKenzie. <br /> <br />Others Present: Debbie Zamow, Staff Liaison and Marcella Houser, Youth <br />Representative and three guests from Roseville Area High School. <br /> <br />3) Approval of Minutes <br />Gordon moved, Boily-Salmanpour seconded that the minutes from the January 12 <br />meeting be approved. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />4) Bias Complaint <br />As of the meeting date, neither complainant has returned an intake form. <br /> <br />5) Human Rights Essay Contest <br />The League of MN Human Rights Commissions will be reviewing essays at their <br />meeting on February 28 and the winners are scheduled to be announced March 1. <br />For those interested in attending, the League meeting will be held in New Brighton. <br />Information about the meeting is included. <br /> <br />6) Cable Program/Promotion <br />Vidas presented a "time-clock" for the proposed Human Rights talk show. She <br />suggested the name "Community Connections". Vidas also proposed a <br />subcommittee get the program off the ground. The subcommittee will consist of <br />Vidas, Hermes, and Bergquist. Any other interested Commissioners can participate <br />at any time. Houser suggested Commissioners bring ideas for program topics to the <br />next meeting. Bergquist will solicit ideas and/or video tape at the next League <br />meeting and search for contributors from other Commissions. <br /> <br />7) Police Pursuit Policy <br />This topic will be reviewed at the next meeting. <br /> <br />8) Other Business/Announcements <br />Commissioners are invited to update their mediation training through the League of <br />Minnesota Human Rights Commissions. Information is included with this packet. <br /> <br />9) Adjournment <br />Hermes moved, Afwerke seconded that the meeting be adjourned at 7:35pm. Motion <br />passed unanimously. <br /> <br />10)Next Meeting <br />The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 9 at 7:00pm in Roseville City Hall. <br />
