<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, MARCH 9, 1999 <br /> <br />1) Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Jill Bergquist at 7:15pm. <br /> <br />2) Roll Call <br />Members present:, Jill Bergquist, Brenda Boily-Salmanpour, Eric Egli, Susan <br />Oliphant and Mary Vidas. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Issac Afwerke, Jan Gordon, Mike Hermes, Thelma McKenzie and <br />Marcella Houser, Youth Representative. <br /> <br />Others Present: Debbie Zamow, Staff Liaison. <br /> <br />3) Approval of Minutes <br />Boily-Salmanpour moved, Vidas seconded that the minutes from the Februaru 9 <br />meeting be approved. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />4) Bias Complaint <br />As of the meeting date, neither complainant has returned an intake form. <br /> <br />5) Human Rights Essay Contest <br />The League of MN Human Rights Commissions reviewed essays at their meeting on <br />February 28 and the winners are as follows: <br /> <br />151 Place <br />2nd Place <br />3rd Place <br /> <br />Golden Valley <br />South St. Paul <br />St. Cloud <br /> <br />Awards will be presented to the winners on April 21 at 4:00 in Golden Valley. The <br />League has asked Zamow to prepare certificates for each of the participants in this <br />year's contest. <br /> <br />6) Cable Program/Promotion <br />Vidas met with representatives from CTV to begin planning for the Human Rights <br />program. She found out that volunteers should be available to assist with the taping <br />of the show and she volunteered to be the director. <br /> <br />Topics for future discussion include set development, promotion and publicity, and <br />ideas for segments. Some ideas that were discussed can be found on the enclosed <br />attachment. <br /> <br />Commissioners are encouraged to host segments in upcoming shows or be <br />interviewed. <br /> <br />Special note: The Subcommittee will meet at the CTV Studio, 950 Woodhill Drive, <br />on Tuesday, March 16 at 7:00pm. The program will be set up at that time. All <br />Commissioners are invited to attend. <br />
