<br />Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />Tuesday, June 13 <br /> <br />1) Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Alexis Orosz at 7:08 p.m. <br /> <br />2) Roll Call <br />Members present: Jill Bergquist, Eric Egli, Thelma McKenzie, Susan Oliphant, Alexis Orosz, <br />and Steven Smith. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Issac Afwerke and Brenda Boily-Salmanpour. <br /> <br />Others present: Mike Prenosil and Debbie Zamow, Staff Liaison <br /> <br />3) Approval of Minutes <br />Egli moved, McKenzie seconded that the minutes of the May 9 meeting be approved. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />4) Presentation of Bias Complaint <br />Former resident Mike Prenosil, spoke before the Commission to outline a complaint he had <br />regarding the Roseville Police Department. The Commission agreed that Mr. Prenosil should <br />work through the formal complaint procedure at the Police Department. Zamow will send <br />him an outline of the complaint procedure. <br /> <br />5) Bias Complaint/Leafletting <br />Egli prepared a final letter that was sent to the Dawit family. <br /> <br />6) Community Outreach <br />The Commission will attempt to hold their September meeting at the Roseville Library to <br />allow for a more public forum. <br /> <br />7) Update Bias/Hate Response <br />McKenzie developed a form letter to send to our current network to update their contact <br />people. Zamow will mail the letters to church and other community groups. <br /> <br />8) Old Business <br />The League is beginning to prepare for next year's essay contest. The Commission will <br />attempt to draft a question for next year. <br /> <br />The 3'd Regional Idea Exchange will be June 24. <br /> <br />9) New Business/Announcements <br />McKenzie introduced 'School Programs for Positive Interaction'. Orosz will complete the <br />application form. <br />
