Call to Order <br /> <br />A[exis Orosz, Chair, ca[led the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. <br /> <br />2. Roll Call <br /> <br />Members Present: The[ma McKenzie, Phillip Crump, A[exis Orosz, Stephen Smith, Rita Stanoch and Howard <br />Wagner <br /> <br />Student Member Present: Hannah Neprash <br /> <br />Others Present: Christine Butterfield <br /> <br />3. Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Wagner moved and Stanoch seconded the approval of the minutes of Ju[y 10, 2001. Motion passed by unanimous <br />vote. AYES - 6 <br /> <br />4. Introduce New Member <br /> <br />Hannah Neprash introduced herself to the Commission Members as the new Youth Commissioner. <br /> <br />5. Off-Site Meetings - Teaching Tolerance Video Tapes <br /> <br />Wagner and Crump asked how we could get people to attend. Smith suggested having a post video discussion. <br />McKenzie inquired about getting a commentator from Channel 2. <br /> <br />Crump said the terrorist attack is something to focus on and get people from Center for Torture. McKenzie <br />indicated we need to bring people in to talk about the issues. <br /> <br />WHO: Bill Soerdy, Evelyn Lennon, Avery, MN Advocates, Loca[ UN, League Of Women voters, Behaviora[ <br />Psychologist <br /> <br />WHAT: Racism on people, healing after the terrorist attack <br /> <br />WHERE: Oval <br /> <br />WHEN: 4-6 weeks <br /> <br />After further discussion, the Commission agreed on the fo[lowing forum structure: <br />I. Introduction of Human Rights Commission <br />[I. How we heal - Do [ have to be hateful after a hateful act? <br /> <br />Presentation on healing - Eve[yn Lennon <br /> <br />Crump motioned training and focus of discussion. Wagner seconded.
