The following members attended: Jill Bergquist, Thelma
McKenzie, and Alexis Orosz.

Commission members discussed the following:

1. Announcement from the Chair
Orosz announced that three new members have been named to the Human Rights
Commission; Phillip Crump, Rita Stanoch and Howard Wagner. Their terms begin on
January 22 and they are expected to attend the next Human Rights Commission meeting of
February 13. She also stated that she has chosen to be interviewed for the open position of
City Council member. She stressed that the opening at this time is an opportunity for the
Council to appoint a member from the diverse cross-section of our community and that
Council membership should represent the makeup of the City's demographic. Lastly, Orosz
mentioned that recognition ofthe winners of the Human Rights Essay Contest will be at the
Council meeting of February 26

2. Other Announcements
Bergquist made several announcements:
The POST board is going to require that police officers have additional training
on how not to do racial profiling.

Human Rights Commission brochures need to be re-stocked in City Hall and at
the library.

The Commission is still interested in appointing a student volunteer. Po stings
should be sent to Roseville Area High School and Concordia High School.

An opportunity exists for the Commission to collaborate with the AFS program.
A meeting of the local chapter of AFS will be held on February 20,7:00 pm, in a
place to be announced. She is interested in other Commissioners ideas on how
the Commission can collaborate with AFS in order to promote human rights.

Notes on the Human Rights Commission's Web Page submission are attached for
Commissioners' commentary.
