<br />. <br /> <br />Commemorative Months: Currently staff writes proclamations for several commemorative <br />months that the City Council adopts. Commissioners discussed whether that list should be <br />expanded or if there are other ways to acknowledge the commemorative months. Curti will <br />send a complete list of commemorative months to the Commissioners for further discussion. <br /> <br />Diversity Committee and Contacting RAS Diversity Coordinator: Commissioner Vnuk <br />served on the Equity and Integration Committee. The Commission has made several attempts <br />to connect with this group but have not received any feedback. The Commission agreed to <br />table this project for the immediate future. <br /> <br />Invite Roseville Police to Partner in a "It's Time To Talk" program: Table until next <br />meeting. Chair McKenzie planned to draft a letter to Police Chief Carol Sletner. <br /> <br />Review U ofM Human Rights Curriculum: Table until next meeting. Chair McKenzie was <br />going to contact one of the staff involved in this project to see how it is working in the test <br />schools. <br /> <br />Bookmarks: Commissioner Delmore included an extensive list of books in the resource <br />book that will be given to Parkview School. Carolyn Curti will use that as a resource. <br />Commissioners requested that she also include appropriate web pages. <br /> <br />Other Issues <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Commissioner Vnuk said she planned to attend the Jewish Community Action Forum later <br />this week. When she called to reserve a space, one of the organizers talked about Roseville <br />sponsoring a forum to discuss human rights issues. Commissioner Vnuk will bring <br />information to the February meeting to discuss in greater detail. <br /> <br />Commissioners then had an in depth discussion about the content of the essays. On the one <br />hand many students see an incredible amount of intolerance/discrimination in their lives. On <br />the other hand, some students didn't fully understand discrimination. Commissioners <br />discussed ways to let the community know about what issues sixth, seventh and eighth <br />graders face. Others expressed frustration on our inability to make an impact on the greater <br />community. Commissioners discussed ways to give youths a greater voice. Commissioners <br />agreed to think about ways to get the community to look at kids' points of view. The <br />Commission will discuss at the February meeting. <br /> <br />Commissioner Voeller and Commissioner Vnuk informed the Commission that their terms <br />expire March 31, 2005 and neither is reapplying for the Commission. Commission Wagner <br />announced that he was resigning from the Commission, effective immediately. <br /> <br />Adjournment <br /> <br />Commissioner Voeller moved to adjourn and Commissioner Vnuk seconded the motion. <br />.
