" <br /> <br />In support of the Minnesota Human Rights <br />Act, the City of Roseville adopted <br />Ordinance 241.010 which states: <br /> <br />The Minnesota Human Rights Act prohibits <br />its discrimination in the areas of: <br /> <br />"It is the public policy of the City of <br />Roseville to fulfill its responsibility as a <br />partner of the State Department of Human <br />Rights in securing for all citizens equal <br />opportunity in housing, employment, public <br />accommodations, public service, education <br />and credit, and to work consistently to <br />improve the human relations climate of the <br />City of Roseville. Credit <br /> <br />After reading the Roseville Law, please address one or more ofthe following issues: <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />How do you see our community fulfilling its partnership role as described in the <br />Roseville Law? <br />As a member of the community, how do you see your role in this partnership? <br />Has discrimination affected you or anyone you know, and how could the partnership <br />resolve it? <br /> <br />B. <br />C. <br /> <br />1997 <br /> <br />Forty years ago, federal troops were ordered into Little Rock, Arkansas to enforce the United <br />States Supreme Court's ruling in Brown v. Board of Education, requiring the integration of U.S. <br />schools. The Supreme Court ruled that segregated schools were unconstitutional and do not <br />provide a quality education to all students. <br /> <br />With this in mind, read Article 26 ofthe United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. <br /> <br />1. Forty years after those events occurred in Little Rock, do you think your school is <br />fulfilling the principles that are reflected in Brown v. Board of Education and the <br />Universal Declaration of Human Rights? <br />2.
