7. Continuation of Pesticide Discussion Duane Schwartz said the questions from last meeting had been forwarded to the city attorney. That response is included in the packet. Bottom line, the state has left very little room for cities to regulate pesticide control. The only area that could be regulated is signage. Member Neprash said the City should define what is meant by entrance and then begin regulating slgnage. Member Neprash said he would like to ask Parks Director Lonnie Brokke to put together a policy regarding pesticide signage in city parks. Duane Schwartz asked how this policy would be enforced since the city wouldn't be aware of when pesticides were being applied-is staff supposed to just drive around looking for trucks? Member Neprash said his notion is that it would be strictly complaint oriented. Member Willenbring questioned how many residents actually use commercial pesticide companies. Member Neprash said in his neighborhood it's probably I in 10. Member Willenbring questioned how this could be enforced. Member Fischer said he's noticed more people in his neighborhood using commercial applicators. Member Neprash suggested going back to the City Attorney to ask for the addition of signage language to the pesticide ordinance. Member DeBenedet suggested the ordinance include some kind of public safety notification component. Member Neprash said he would research other public information regarding this topic to see what's already out there and bring it back for the November meeting. Duane Schwartz will have staff research other cities to see what their enforcement history has been and will contact Lonnie Brokke to see if they will put in writing their pesticide signage policy for parks. 8. 2007 Proposed Street I Road Improvements Deb Bloom presented infonnation on the five-year road improvement plan for the city. 9.
