Roseville Public Works, Environment and
Transportation Commission

Agenda Item

Date: November 28, 2006

Item No: 7

Item Description: Pesticide Signage Ordinance

Attached you will find a draft of the pesticide sign age language, as recommended earlier this
year by the City Attorneys office. This is similar to what some other cities have in their
ordinances regarding this issue and is consistent with State Statute. We would suggest the
Commission review the draft language and suggest any modifications for review by the City
Attorney before sending a recommendation to the City Council.

Staff was able to contact five cities about their experiences enforcing their pesticide language in
their ordinance. We have attached a copy of their comments.

Staff also discussed the suggestion that Parks and Recreation create a written policy regarding
pesticide use on park land. They indicated they have an administrative operating policy to
minimize use of pesticides and seek organic solutions to these needs.

Recommended Action:

Discussion of language changes to the draft ordinance for review by the City Attorney.
