Presentation of Roseville Area High School (RAHS) Earth Group <br />Envi- <br />ronmental Project <br />RAHS Students Natalie Tungsvick; Rebecca Baldridge; and their <br />Earth Group Environmental Club Advisor Mary Schifsky were <br />present with Ms. Tungsvick and Ms. Baldridge making a presentation <br />to the City Council and encouraging the City's participation in the <br />"Cool Cities" campaign, recognizing global warmiI);i?{.~d climate <br />change issues, and the need for citizens and commu'lre~1~be a vital <br />part of making improvements on a local level e a global <br />impact. <br /> <br /> <br />Ms. Tungsvick reviewed the Kyoto <br />intemational involvement to-date wit <br />signing the document; action take <br />forward to the future and the goa <br />emissions by 7% by 2012; and the <br />govemments to pass legisla .~. <br /> <br />use of green vehic <br />sources and prG <br />encouragm <br />stoplight:y <br /> <br />'challenges of potential short-term costs; <br />wareness; while noting the benefits of long- <br />ng an example; and supporting a renewal energy <br /> <br />. ck concluded by observing that the City of Roseville will <br />need ake changes in the near future, and the "Cool Cities" <br />campa gn was a great way to start. <br /> <br />Ms. Baldridge reviewed the steps for Roseville to become a "Cool <br />City," signature of the Mayor on a Climate Protection Agreement; <br />working with other organizations to reach goals by determining what <br />1990 emission levels were compared to current levels, by using <br />resources from state organizations, and planning for strategies and <br />goals for reducing emissions, and how to implement those strategies. <br />
