Chair DeBenedet said he was interested in looking at the maintenance budget to ensure there were enough funds available for long-term maintenance of the infrastructure. Member Vanderwall asked how staff worked through the budgeting process. Ms. Bloom said that could be discussed when the topic is on the agenda. Member Vanderwall suggested that the Commission should be getting involved with street projects before they're even a project, such as County Road B2, which he said needs to be totally reconstructed but the County is only planning on resurfacing. He feels that input from the Commission could make a difference in how these projects are developed. Ms. Bloom said that a good topic would be to discuss the project development process. There are statutes and laws governing the process, and the State doesn't necessarily need the City's permission on certain projects. Member Neprash said that while the City might not have a voice in what the [mal project looks like, it still takes a long time to get to that point and input might be considered along the way. Member Fischer suggested discussing the permitting process in the City and discussing the new regulations for disposal of CRT cathode ray tube containing devices. Member Neprash suggested delving into water quality. 8. Open Meeting Law Information The statute was provided in the packet, but basically, this law does apply to the Commission. 9. 2008 Budget Initiatives Deb Bloom presented an overview of the Public Works budget. Member Neprash said that the Traffic Management Policy development would be a good thing to bring to the Commission for suggestions. 10.
