<br />EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL <br />OF ROSEVILLE, MINNESOTA, HELD DECEMBER 12, 1966 <br /> <br />* * * * * * * . * . * * * * * * * . <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of <br />the Village Council of Roseville, Minnesota, was duly called and held <br />at the Vi llage Hall in said Village on the 12th day of December, 1966, <br />at 7:30 p.m. The following members were present: <br /> <br />Mayor Cedarholm, Trustees Curley, Goodrich, Grauel and Shields <br /> <br />and the following were absent: None <br /> <br />Member Goodrich introduced the following Resolution and moved <br />its adoption. <br /> <br />I~SOLUTION NO. 1691 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, more than 90% of the employees presently members of <br />P.E.R.A. of the Village of Roseville, have by petition, a copy of <br />which is attached hereto, expressed their disapproval with the <br />Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA Plan) as it is presently <br />constituted; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Village of Roseville has consistently opposed <br />legislation seeking to broaden the base or otherwise extend benefits <br />under the P.E.R.A. as it is now constituted; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the provisions of the Federal Social Security Act <br />provides for a system of Old Age Survivor's and Disability Insurance <br />(OASDI) which would benefit many of the Village of Roseville employees <br />as well as those of other governmental units throughout the State, while <br />not jeopardizing the benefits of those employees whose best interest <br />dictates their continuance under P.E.R.A.; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Village Council of Roseville has enthusiastically <br />supported the proposed legislation drafted by the Minnesota League of <br />Municipalities for coordination of OASDI and PERA benefits; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE <br />VI LLAGE OF ROSE VI LLE AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. That passage be urged in the strongest possible terms of <br />legislation to be introduced into the Leg'islature by the Minnesota <br />League of Municipalities enabling employees presently required to <br />belong to P.E.R.A. to option to be covered under the OASDI provisions <br />of the Federal Social Security Act, in a manner outlined in the bill. <br />
