<br /> <br />Variance Board Meeting <br />City Council Chambers, 2660 Civic Center Drive <br />Minutes - Wednesday, March 7, 2007 <br />1. Call to Order <br />Acting Chair Daniel Boerigter called to order the Variance Board meeting at 5:02 p.m. and <br />reviewed the role and purpose of the Variance Board. <br />2. Roll Call & Introductions <br />City Planner Thomas Paschke called the Roll. <br />Members Present: Chair Boerigter; and Commissioners Mary Bakeman and Joe Wozniak. <br />Members Absent: Commissioner Doherty. <br />Staff present: City Planner Thomas Paschke; Associate Planner Bryan Lloyd; City Engineer <br />Debra Bloom; and Economic Development Associate Jamie Radel <br />3. Approval of Minutes <br />Acting Chair Boerigter advised that the January 3, 2007 meeting minutes would be considered <br />for approval at a future meeting, due to the absence of Commissioner Doherty and a quorum. <br />MOTION: <br />Member Bakeman moved, seconded by Member Wozniak, to approve meeting minutes <br />of February 7, 2007 as presented. <br />Ayes: 3 <br />Nays: 0 <br />Motion carried. <br />4. Public Hearings <br />a. PLANNING FILE 07-011 <br />VARIANCE to Roseville <br />Request by Cave and Associates, Ltd., 2489 Rice Street, for a <br />City Code,§703 (Public Ways) OR §1018.05 (Design and Maintenance of Parking <br /> <br />and Loading Areas) <br />to allow a new parking lot entrance on Woodbridge Street to <br />encroach into the required setback from the intersection at Grandview Avenue. <br />Acting Chair Boerigter opened the Public Hearing for Planning File 07-011. <br />Economic Development Associate Jamie Radel reviewed the request to allow <br />construction of a new driveway within the required 40-foot setback from an intersection <br />to accommodate a 90-degree entrance angle as recommended by City Engineer Debra <br />Bloom to increase safety and improve internal circulation. Ms. Radel advised that there <br />were no anticipated plans to expand Grandview or Woodbridge; and that an additional <br />sixteen feet (16’) lie between the property line and the curb. <br />Staff-recommended APPROVAL of Cave & Associates request for a 7.5-foot intersection <br />setback VARIANCE to §1018.05 (Design and Maintenance of Parking and Loading <br />Areas) of the City Code to allow for the construction of a new driveway within the <br />required setback on Woodbridge Street, based on the comments and findings outlined in <br />Section 5 of the staff report dated March 7, 2007. <br />Commissioners were advised that there had been no comment received from adjacent <br />property owners. <br /> <br />
