CITY OF ROSEVILLE OFFICIAL SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE NO. 1355 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 5, SECTION 501 ANIMAL CONTROL The City Council of the City of Roseville adopted Ordinance No. 1355 on November 19, 2007, which is summarized as follows: An Animal Control Ordinance for the purpose of encouraging sterilization of domestic animals and compliance with the City's licensing requirements including the following: 1. Adds a definition of sterilized to refer to an animal that has been spayed or neutered. 2. Identifies violations of the ordinance to be an administrative offense for which administrative penalties can be imposed, which should further encourage compliance and cover City costs associated with enforcement. 3. Deletes outdated reference to animals in hotels. 4. Allows the City to designate other entities to sell licenses, which will allow the City to work with local veterinarians to incorporate this function into "well animal" checks. 5. Makes certain necessary exemptions to licensing (temporary visitors to City). 6. Requires owners to keep their address current with the City so animals can be returned when possible. 7. References state law regarding the operation of impounding facilities and required time periods for impoundment. 8. Institutes a tiered licensing structure, with associated fees as follows: Dog and cat licenses Two Year License -Sterilized 10.00 Two Year License -Sterilized and Electronically Tagged 5.00 Two Year License -Non-sterilized 35.00 Two Year License -Non-sterilized and Electronically Tagged 25.00 Lifetime License - Sterilized 30.00 Lifetime License - Sterilized and Electronically Tagged 5.00 Duplicate/Address Change 5.00 Special Multiple Two Year 40.00 A printed copy of the ordinance is available for inspection during regular office hours in the office. of the City Manager at the Roseville City Hall, 2660 Civic Center Drive, Roseville, Minnesota 55113.
