~-~^
dC7C7 Ros~vill~ Aria schools • District GZ
~ ~~ 3
623 Serving the Communities of Arden Hills, Falmn Heights, Lauderdale. Little Canada. MaplrwrocKl. Roscwille, and Shoreview
September l9, 2002
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing in support of the grant that Roseville's Human Rights Commission is applying for
from your foundation. As Roseville Area School's Diversity Coordinator, I believe it is critical
fot• the students, staff, and community-at-large in Roseville to begin the journey of addressing,
leal•ning, and celebrating Roseville's growing and diverse population as artners. Awal•ding this
gl-ant to Roseville's Human Rights Commission will give us the opportunity to begin to pursue
this important journey together.
The elelnental•y school that I have chosen fol• the grant supported theatre project has the largest
student of color population in our district. Because of the rich diversity at Edgel•ton Elemental•y,
the students and staff would greatly benefit from working with the chosen theatre troupe to
• continue to address the issues of diversity that are present in such a diverse school. We know
that consistently working with and 1•eflecting upon the strength of oul• diversity will ultimately
result in a more stable academic environment for all of our students.
Because this is my first year as Roseville's Diversity Coordinator, this is my first opportunity to
begin bl•idge building between the school community and the community at large--an important
step to take as both communities wol•k with Roseville's rich diversity. Both communities will
need to rely upon one another for the sake of student achievement in our schools.
I am hopeful that we will receive a grant from you, and Ithank-you for your consideration., I
believe that the benefit on both a micro and macro community levels is obvious--and most
importantly, this grant is about ow• children!
Sincerely,
~Q~
Johanna Eager
Diversity Coordinator
Roseville Area School District is an equal Opportunity/affirmative action educator and employer, committed to a culturally diverse workforce.
Fairview Educational Development Center • 1910 County Rd B W Roseville, MN 55 1 1 3-5493
