The 2000 Census -Community Balance and Age of Residents <br />How does Roseville Compare? <br />• At 20.27%, Roseville has the 2nd highest percentage of people age <br />65+ among metro municipalities over 10,000 population. (Edina is <br />highest with 22.7%. There are 9 other metro municipalities with a <br />population under 10,000 that have a higher percentage than Roseville, <br />including: Lilydale, St. Anthony, Iona, Cambridge, Osseo, Miesville, <br />Long Prairie, and Wayzata.) <br />• At 3.16%, Roseville has the 5th highest percentage of people 85+ <br />among metro municipalities over 10,000 population. (Higher are: <br />New Hope, Hopkins, Edina, &Robbinsdale. Fifteen smaller metro <br />communities were also higher in percentage than Roseville.) <br />• At "41 ", Roseville has the 4th highest median age among metro <br />municipalities over 10,000 population. The median age in Ramsey <br />County was 33.7 years; St. Paul's median age was 31. (Higher -than <br />"41 "- cities include: Edina, Golden Valley, Mendota Heights. <br />Sixteen smaller metro municipalities also had higher median age than <br />Roseville.) <br />• At 30.64%, Roseville has the 3rd highest proportion of households <br />containing at least one individual that is 65 or more years old among <br />metro municipalities over 10,000 population. (Higher are: Edina and <br />Columbia Heights. Nine other metro communities with populations <br />under 10,000 also had a higher proportion.) <br />• With 13.86%, Roseville has the 5th highest proportion of <br />Householders age 65+ among metro municipalities over 10,000 <br />population. (Higher are: Edina, West St. Paul, Robbinsdale, <br />Columbia Heights. Fourteen other communities in the metro with <br />pops under 10,000 were also higher.) <br />• With a 2% loss in each of two population categories -aged 0 to 14 <br />and 25 to 64, and increases in seniors, Roseville's population "bell <br />curve" is becoming flatter - a different resident mix that changes <br />school and city services, programming, and participation. <br />
