~~~
• -i"'i
March 20, 2003
Dear Mayor Kysylyczyn and City Council Members:
At the Mayor's request, the Roseville Human Rights Commission reviewed materials and
met with Parks and Recreation Director Lonnie Brokke to discuss the Facility Use Policy
for City buildings. The materials included operating and room policies and the City
Attorney's opinions of protected classes and use of City facilities for public meetings.
The Human Rights Commission finds that the current City policies meet the
Commission's concerns and the current policy works well. All users of the rooms are
treated fairly and equally. Only one serious complaint has arisen in the past 13 years or
longer. That complaint did not involve discrimination against a protected class. The
incident has been resolved and that group no longer uses City facilities.
Please contact the Human Rights Commission if we can be of further assistance.
• Sincerely,
Thelma McKenzie
Chair, Roseville Human Rights Commission
c: Neal Beets, City Manager
Lonnie Brokke, Parks and Recreation Director
•
2660 Civic Center Drive • Roseville • Minnesota • 55113
651-490-2200 • TDD 651-490-2207 • wwwci.roseville.mn.us
