Dear XXXXXXXXXXX,
The Roseville Human Rights Commission works closely with Roseville schools,
churches and businesses in promoting human rights in our community. We are putting
together a list of individuals who would be members of a speakers' bureau to promote
cultural awareness in Roseville. With your help, we hope to create a list of individuals
who would supplement the classroom, churches or businesses' experiences by sharing
their perspectives and experiences. Our schools, in particular, are very interested in
bringing in members from the larger metropolitan community.
Potential members of the speaker's bureau would meet the following criteria:
• Available for classroom experiences during regular school hours or occasional
evenings or weekends.
• Able to communicate to groups of varying ages and experiences.
• Able to raise the cultural awareness of students, business people and Roseville
residents through sharing personal experiences, history and classroom discussion
and experiences.
• Actively promotes the human rights of all.
• Willing to share their expertise without remuneration.
A willingness to be included in this resource list of potential speakers carries no
obligations. A teacher, church or business would contact the individual directly and the
response to the invitation would depend upon the availability and fit with the request.
As a community leader, we're contacting you to ask for your help in creating this list of
potential speakers. Would you consider being on our list? Are there other individuals
you would recommend? We appreciate your help and look forward to hearing from you.
We will contact any individuals you recommend before we include them on the bureau
for distribution to teachers.
With your help, we hope to broaden the cultural awareness of members of our
community and make a lasting impact on Roseville and the broader community. Please
contact Human Rights staff liaison Carolyn Curti at 651-490-2209 or email
human.ri~hts~ci.roseville mn us if you can help establish the Roseville Human Rights
Speakers Bureau.
Sincerely,
Thelma McKenzie, Chair
Roseville Human Rights Commission
•
