APPENDIX D D103S NYre appara4cs access road gates. Gates securingthe fire apparatus access marls shalt comply with all of the fo(tow- ing criteria: 1. The minimum gate width shall be 20 feet (6096 mm). 2. Gates shall be of the swinging or sliding type. 3. Constmction of gates shall be of materials that allow manual opemkioa by one person. 4. Gate components shall he maintained in an operative condition at all times and replaced orrepaimd when de- fective. S. Electricgates shall be equipped withameans ofopening dte gate by 5re deparmrent personnel for emergency ac- cess. Emergency opening devices shall be approved by the code official. 6. Manual opening gates shall notbe locked withapadlock or chain and padlock unless they are capable of being opened by means of forcible entry tools and 7.
