Appointment: The Council shall appoint an eligible person to fill a vacancy on the City <br />Council as soon as is practicable after the vacancy occurs. The person appointed shall <br />serve for the unexpired portion of the term unless a special election is required <br />hereunder or by state law. <br />B. Special Election: A special election shall be held to fill a vacancy on the City Council <br />if <br />the vacancy occurs more <br />than ~~~~ t~l0~weeks before the first da~to file affidavits of candidacy <br />the regular city election „;~,: ;,~,~i.°~ <br />jam, This special election shall be held as soon after the vacancy is declared as is <br />practical under state law. No special primary election shall occur in cases of special <br />elections held pursuant to this section. <br />SECTION II: Effective date.
