I understand that Rainbow is behind
this movement as they failed to secure a license when there was one available for a year
plus and somebody else grabbed it up. By going to unlimited licenses, I can bet that
Cub and Super Target will follow suit on opening up liquor stores in the near future. At
that rate, we would have 3 liquor stores on Lexington and Larpenteur and 3 stores on the
corners of Co Rd B and Snelling. The number of liquor stores in the metro has gone from
220 ten years ago to 480+ currently and the population of the Twin Cities metro has not
come close to doubling. At this time we have in Roseville the second most amount of
stores per capita after Bloomington. At some point I think there needs to be a limit and
now is a good
time to draw the line. The fact that Rainbow missed their opportunity to lock down a
license should not make it so the rest of us have to pay for their mistake. Please
consider leaving the number of licenses where it is currently. I appreciate your time on
this issue.
Sincerely,
Rod Olson (manager)
The Cellars Wines and Spirits
1649 Co Rd C West
Roseville, MN
Additional Information:
Form submitted on: 7/28/2008 3:47:03 PM
Submitted from IP Address: 75.161.182.192
Form Address: http://www.ci.roseville.mn.us/forms.asp?FID=115
1
