I assume the existing rule
was not put there at random. Has the council looked into the motivations for the existing rule?
Perhaps the council could grant a variance on a store's footprint or size, on a case by case basis.
That way, voter sentiment might need to be taken into account.
Increasing the footprint of Har-Mar as a whole would be a very big deal, and should not be rushed
into without serious public debate and voter approval.
Thanks,
Tom
From: Bob Willmus [mailto:bwillmus@q.com]
Sent: Friday, October 10, 2008 11:11 AM
To: Unger, Tom
Subject: Re: Regional Mall in Roseville
Thank you for your thoughts regarding the Comp Plan.
For me the problem with the Community Business designation at the Har Mar site is the
definition language capping building size at 100,000 square feet.
I would support a land use guide designation of Community Business for the Har Mar site
provided we do not include any language as to building footprint or size. Currently the Har
Mar building is around 500,000 square feet in size as it sits today.
Would a Community Business designation for the Har Mar site, without the building
footprint or size limitation, be a potential compromise?
Sincerely
Bob Willmus
651-633-4601
---- Original Message -----
From: Unger, Tom
To: city.council@ci.roseville mn us
Sent: Friday, October 10, 2008 10:10 AM
Subject: Regional Mall in Roseville
Dear Roseville council members,
10/13/2008
