Planning Commission Meeting <br />Minutes – Wednesday, May 07, 2008 <br />Page 2 <br />for discussion of the Update could be limited, allowing for discussion of other <br />pertinent items before the bodies. <br />Chair Bakeman requested staff to provide an e-mail update to Commissioners as <br />soon as the City Council agenda was finalized, and time for the joint meeting <br />determined. <br />Following additional discussion, it was the consensus of Commissioners to <br />request staff to provide a summary of Variance Board and Planning Commission <br />activities and cases during 2007 for Council information at the joint meeting. <br />Chair Bakeman polled commissioners, and it appeared that all would be <br />available to attend the joint meeting with the City Council, as well as several <br />available to attend the May 27, 2008 presentation and discussion by Ramsey <br />Council on the Rice Street Corridor Study. <br />ii. Request by the Public Works, Environment, and Transportation Commission <br />(PWETC) to attend their May 27, 2008 meeting to participate in the <br />presentation/discussion by Ramsey County on the Rice Street Corridor Study. <br />Election of Chair and Vice Chair; and Appointments to the Variance Board <br />Additional agenda item - Thomas P – item of business – elect a Chair and Vice <br />Chair – do yearly elections for those serving on VB <br />MOTION <br />Member Boerigter moved, seconded by Member Wozniak to nominate <br />Commissioner Bakeman as Planning Commission Chair. <br />Ayes: 6 <br />Nays: 0 <br />Motion carried. <br />MOTION <br />Member Wozniak moved, seconded by Member Boerigter to nominate <br />Commissioner Doherty as Planning Commission Vice-Chair. <br />Ayes: 6 <br />Nays: 0 <br />Motion carried. <br />Mr. Paschke advised that up to four (4) commissioners needed to be designated for the <br />Variance Board, with them selecting their own Chairperson from that group. <br />Commissioner Boerigter clarified that the Planning Commission was designating four <br />people, with the City Council confirming that designation; based on a change in <br />terminology several years ago. <br />Commissioners Boerigter, Doherty volunteered to serve on the Variance Board, with <br />Commissioner Gottfried volunteering to serve as an alternate. As Commissioner <br />Martinson was not at the meeting, staff offered to contact her by e-mail to determine if <br />she was interested in continuing to serve on the Variance Board as the fourth <br />commissioner. Commissioners concurred. <br />5. Public Hearings <br />a. PLANNING FILE 08-013 <br />Request by Centennial Gardens Apartment for an Interim Use Permit to allow a <br />temporary apartment leasing sign to be erected on the Hamline Shopping Center <br />property, 2797 – 2833 Hamline Avenue <br />Chair Bakeman opened the Public Hearing for Planning File 08-013. <br /> <br />
