Attachment A <br />Application for 1,000 Benches Project Grant City of Roseville <br />December 2008 <br />The City of Roseville through the Parks and Recreation division respectfully submits the <br />following application fora 1,000 Benches Project Grant for Langton Lake in the Twin Lakes <br />area of Roseville. <br />The Langton Lake Pathway to Health links 10 benches along a pathway surrounding Langton <br />Lake. The Langton Lake Pathway to Health will encourage the community to walk for <br />transportation and to walk for personal wellbeing. <br />• The route connects adjacent residential areas from the North, East and West. <br />• The route promotes physical fitness opportunities for the local business community, for <br />parents and families supporting young athletes and for members and guests of the nearby <br />senior residential and rehabilitation facilities. <br />• The route will link future Twin Lakes development (multi-phase) to the community at <br />large. <br />• The route will connect a newly approved senior co-op building with 93 units anticipated <br />being constructed in 2009 <br />Goal: <br />To promote community wellness through active and healthy lifestyle choices. <br />• The Langton Lake Pathway to Health will provide a much needed link between <br />neighborhoods, local businesses, adult health care facilities and future residential <br />developments. <br />• The Langton Lake Pathway to Health will promote increased physical activity and <br />expanded environmental awareness. <br />• The Langton Lake Pathway to Health will serve the entire community, from young to <br />old alike. <br />Total Benches: 10 <br />Route: <br />Along Langton Lake Park pathway; travelling from North to South on the West side of the lake, <br />with two benches along the South-East side of the lake. <br />* All benches to be installed on City-owned Parkland eliminating the need for outside <br />agreements with private land owners. Roseville Parks and Recreation is committed to <br />maintaining benches and surrounding areas for the Langton Lake Pathway to Health. <br />Destinations: <br />Residential Neighborhoods, Park, Adult Co-Op Townhomes and Condominiums, Assisted <br />Living Facilities, Medical Complexes, Light Industry, Historical Landmarks, Future <br />Development (mixed use -residential, office and services, specifics yet to be determined). <br />Populations Served: <br />• Older Adults -serving both active and needing assistance <br />• Working Adults -maximizing the capacity for work day wellness opportunities <br />• Families -serving local residential neighborhoods and complexes, serving visitors to <br />adjacent senior medical and living facilities, serving athletic event supporters <br />Projected User levels: <br />o Spring, Summer and Fall - 1,000-1,200/day <br />o Winter - 250-400/day <br />
