$5,000 in tax levy dollars.
* A list of scheduled vehicle replacements in the tax-supported funds
is as follows:
Marked Squads (6) $171,775
Unmarked vehicles (2) $45,320
Fire engine $470,000
Fire Marshall vehicle $25,000
Fire Rescue Boat $21,000
Dump truck with plow $145,000
Road grader $150,000
All of these items will require subsequent approval by the Council
* Equipment Replacement includes:
$120,000 for a sidewalk maintenance machine
$40,000 Fire turnout gear
$100,000 for joint fiber network build out
All of these items will require subsequent approval by the Council.
* Regarding the HRA Levy, the Council has the authority to set the
levy, however the HRA establishes the programs in which the levy is used
for. A copy of the 2009 Proposed HRA Budget is attached.
* The 'miscellaneous' category typically includes smaller purchases
that in of themselves do not constitute a significant expenditure. The
budget for this category is typically set based on prior year
expenditures. Because the City is forecasting budget impacts 18 months
into the future, there are instances where its prudent to set aside
monies for contingencies. However, the Proposed 2009 Budget as modified
has little, if any, contingency money.
* The $74,020 identified includes:
$21,500 in reduced admin budget expenses for an intern position, general
employee training, and tuition reimbursement.
$4,100 in smaller reductions in the Fire and Parks & Recreation areas
$18,420 in Police professional services and contract maintenance related
to the records management software and radio support.
$30,000 in Public Works delayed filling of positions and reduced
professional services for non-developer paid traffic analyses.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------
Thanks.
Christopher K.
